About Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor
“A recipe has no soul, you as a cook must bring soul to the recipe” _Thomas Keller_
Our love for Bengali food, kept us alive in this journey. Following the heritage since years to create evolution is great, but with the evolution staying intact with the ancient golden flavours and techniques has made us unique today.
We first started our journey under the mentorship of Mr. Haridas Paul the founder of Hindusthan Sweets. Bengali sweets have always been an eminent part of our life and the unique recipes and hygiene we maintained, took us forward, where we wanted to introduce the fine dining experience to the people of Kolkata. In the footsteps of his grandfather, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Paul started his journey on the path of entrepreneurship.
He introduced the famous Bawarchi restaurant in Jadavpur in the year 1999. Remarkably, people showered immense love for the food and the restaurant and within 2 years Bawarchi opened various branches all over West Bengal.
Then came the very famous ‘Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor’ in 2004 on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya with an aim to serve the people the lost taste of Bengal. Satyajit Ray has been an inspiration to many and what better way to relish bangaliyana than with our very own Bhooter Raja. Inspired by the Satyajit Ray’s film, culture, tradition and the authentic flavours of Bengal this one is a themed restaurant of the maestro’s blockbuster Gupi Gayen – Bagha Bayen. Gupi Gayen – Bagha Bayen definitely stirs up nostalgia for all of us. So, having a whole hearty meal with our favourite Bhooter Raja is nothing less than a boon to us.
The rest as they say is history.
Started with just one outlet at Jadavpur and in just 17 years we stand strong with 5 of our precious outlets all over Bengal. From Saltlake to Chandannagar, Kalyani to Siliguri we have our culinary gateways open just for you.
We are on the mission to inspire and curate absolute delights. From melt-in-mouth Ilish Bhapa, to the spicy Mutton, from traditional Chingri Malaikari to the extraordinary mish-mash vegetarian dishes, and the list goes on and so are we.
So, come and indulge in authentic Bengali food at its best. Taste the traditional Bengali dishes that will rekindle the magic of that old Bengali food that we all miss today.
